Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting Moment

Here One Moment, Gone the Next

This was not an easy topic to tackle.  For the past few days I have been waiting for something to capture my thoughts on this topic.  I took a few shots of some of the flowers around the house today, pretty much just practicing with macro, color, focus, lighting, and really had no intention of using them for this.  As I looked through the shots, I was amazed to see that I captured the grasshopper on the flower that I was focusing on.  And I kid you not, it was not on any of the other pictures I took before or after this one.  So it got me thinking that I may actually have captured what I intended to in regards to this topic.

When I think of a fleeting moment, I consider it pretty much in the sense of here a moment, and gone the next.  For many of us a moment is just that, a brief second or two of time.  But you can also think of it from larger viewpoint.  I mean our life is pretty much just a moment in the whole scheme of things, and it’s fascinating to consider all the things that seem to rush by where we really don’t take a moment to really experience what we are seeing.  It’s a big reason why I started this project a year and a half ago, and why it’s darn near impossible for me not to continue.  Because every now and then we all just need to take a moment and experience what a true gift we have been given.  One of my favorite quotes from the movies is “life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.”  July 3, 2012
